Günzburg district: New initiative for strong family doctor practices!
Family medical care in the Günzburg district is important to those responsible. A new initiative aims to ensure that young doctors are retained in the region and receive optimal training. The plan envisages an expansion of the continuing education network for general medicine, which enables comprehensive training with the aim of providing needs-based healthcare. According to [B4B Schwaben].
The focus is particularly on the five-fold training period structure, which offers a close connection between outpatient practice and clinical experience. In a rotation plan designed by the clinicians Dr. Joachim Durner and Dr. Peter Müller developed it in cooperation with practicing doctors, prospective doctors spend 24 months in general practitioners' practices and 36 months in clinics. This concept not only promises in-depth training, but also a common platform for exchange between trainers and young doctors.
Targeted promotion of young talent
A central element of this initiative is the introduction of a medical scholarship that is specifically aimed at supporting young family doctors. The shortage of general practitioners is a major issue, particularly in rural areas. There are only 45,373 general practitioners working in Germany. In addition, many of them are of retirement age, which further exacerbates the situation, as Ärzteblatt reports. It is therefore all the more important to increase the attractiveness of the profession.
The basics of further training to become a specialist in general medicine are clear and last a total of 60 months. This includes, among other things, 12 months in internal medicine and 24 months in primary care. In addition, 80 hours of further training in basic psychosomatic care are required in order to meet the challenges in general practice.
Diversity in further education
The further training offers a wide spectrum: from internal medicine to surgery to pediatrics, prospective doctors can gain experience in various areas. Regular child care plays an important role in pediatric care. Knowledge of the differences in therapies for children and adults is of great importance here. It is also recommended to gain experience in dermatology in order to be able to competently treat various skin diseases.
The acute shortage of general practitioners makes it necessary to find scope for action in order to ensure comprehensive care. There are efforts to take policy measures to make general practice more attractive. These include, among other things, the country doctor quota and a higher weighting in the licensing regulations in order to make the decision for this important area attractive to young doctors, according to the website HAE BW.
In order to ensure long-term primary care in the Günzburg district, the cooperation of all those involved is essential. This is the only way to ensure high-quality and sustainable healthcare for the population.
