This year's summer reception took place last Friday in the Cham town hall, and it was a truly hot reception - with 38 degrees in the shade. However, the unbeatably high temperature was no obstacle for the around 300 guests who gathered in the unair-conditioned foyer. Mayor Martin Stoiber and Brigadier General Axel Hardt warmly welcomed those present, creating a relaxed, happy atmosphere.
The event was organized by the city of Cham in close cooperation with the 12th Panzer Brigade Upper Palatinate. Among the guests were the mayors from the neighboring towns, who were happy together about the positive development in Cham. During the reception, a brass sextet from the Army Music Corps provided musical highlights that underlined the summer evening.
Extensive honors and festive atmosphere
A few weeks earlier, on April 26, 2023, the ceremony for the 100th school anniversary of the Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Gymnasium took place, where Mayor Martin Stoiber was also present. Almost 200 guests of honor took part in this historic event, which took place in a festively decorated and illuminated break hall. Deputy headmistress Sigrid Schiedermeier and her team made a significant contribution to the planning of this spectacle.
State Minister Michael Piazolo and Ministerial Representative Anette Kreim emphasized the importance of education for the region and did not miss the opportunity to deliver greetings. District Administrator Franz Löffler also spoke and emphasized the need for investments in the school system, while Stoiber praised the training at the Fraunhofer-Gymnasium. Particular highlights were the musical, artistic and sporting performances by students, which made the evening lively.
A look into the future
The high school's art class showed an exhibition about the school's next 100 years, which looked ahead to future developments. A film contemporary witness project, produced by Tim Fuchs, offered guests insights into the history of the high school. To emphasize the memories of this special evening, the guests of honor received a commemorative publication and documentation on a USB stick.
Overall, the summer reception in Cham was a successful event that both strengthened social interaction and underlined the important contribution of education to the region. Impressions and photos will certainly be remembered by many, while the city once again shone with a good knack for events.
