Natural gardens in Unterallgäu: Ten new awards for environmental friends!
It's that time again in the picturesque Unterallgäu: ten gardens have received the coveted “Bavaria is blooming – natural garden” seal of quality! This award, which is given by those responsible in the district, is a symbol of ecological awareness and the promotion of biodiversity in our region. How Mercury reports, the ceremonial award ceremony took place in the Mögele family's garden in Siebnach, a perfect setting for honoring nature lovers.
A total of 50 gardens in the district now bear the natural garden badge, and that is reason to be happy! At the ceremony, District Administrator Alex Eder emphasized the immense importance of natural gardens. They help us to better understand the connections in nature and thus make a valuable contribution to environmental awareness in the community.
Important criteria for the award
In order to receive the seal of quality, the gardens must meet certain core criteria. This includes, above all, ecological diversity in the garden and the avoidance of chemical pesticides as well as chemical-synthetic fertilizers and peat. Even if many aspects are good for the gardens, additional optional criteria such as extensive meadow areas and the use of rainwater are welcome. These standards help create a harmonious and sustainable ecosystem.
The newly awarded gardens are a real gem. Barbara Mayer designed a magnificent natural garden in Reichau with a pond and native wild perennials. Hannelore and Siegmar Möhl in Amberg conjured up a vegetable garden and a Benje hedge, while Christiane Ziegler in Unterrieden enriched her home garden with vegetables and appropriate trees. Other excellent gardens can be found in Türkheim, Winterrieden and, among others, Mindelheim.
