The Steiner Cup 2025/26 is going into the next round and promises exciting duels on the football field. This year, 18 teams from the districts of Bad Reichenhall, Traunstein, Rosenheim, Mühldorf and Altötting will take part in the tournament, which officially begins on July 12, 2025. The draw for the groups recently took place in the Stein Castle Brewery with around 30 club and brewery representatives, which only increases the anticipation for the event, reports PNP.
The participants are divided into four groups, with two groups containing five teams and two groups containing four teams. The final round is scheduled for August 2nd and 3rd, 2025 at the TSV Stein/St. Georgen in the Irsinger Au, where the best teams will fight for the title.
Group division and tournament mode
The teams were sorted into the following groups:
- Gruppe A: SV Ruhpolding, SV Kay II, SV Kirchanschöring II (Titelverteidiger), TSV Palling, SV Leobendorf.
- Gruppe B: SV Gendorf Burgkirchen II, SV Laufen, F-Town Kickers, TuS Traunreut.
- Gruppe C: TSV Eiselfing, TSV Polling, SV Linde Tacherting II, FC Mühldorf, DJK SV Griesstätt.
- Gruppe D: SG Altenmarkt/Stein, SV Weidenbach, TSV Babensham, VfL Waldkraiburg.
The tournament winner will be rewarded with a wild card for the Toto Cup, and the runner-up is expected to also get this chance. Organizer Thomas Georg was very satisfied with the number of participants and the great atmosphere at the draw, although he noted that the later start of the first half of the season led to fewer registrations than hoped.
DFB Cup: A look into the future
While the Steiner Cup is exciting the region, there is also great anticipation for the 2025/26 DFB Cup. This begins in mid-August, with the first round taking place between August 15th and 18th, 2025. The Bundesliga is scheduled to start a week after the first round of the cup. The cup games of top teams such as Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart had to be postponed to August 26th and 27th due to the Supercup kicker.at reported.

The qualified teams range from Bundesliga teams such as Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund to rivals from the 2nd and 3rd leagues and the national cup winners. Broadcasting rights are secured by ARD, ZDF and Sky, with Sky showing all 63 games live and ARD and ZDF also have many exciting matches in their program.
