Mozart’s Così fan tutte” – enjoy the opera in the Thon-Dittmer Palais for free!

On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, a very special event will take place in the picturesque courtyard of the Thon-Dittmer Palais in Regensburg: The opera “Così fan tutte” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be performed as part of the “Music on Wheels” project. Admission begins at 5:30 p.m. and entry is free. However, if it rains, the performance will take place in the auditorium of the Palais, so there is no need to worry in heavy weather, Regensburg.de reports that ....

Initiated by the International Foundation for the Promotion of Culture and Civilization from Munich, this performance represents a fresh and accessible experience that is intended to appeal to both opera newcomers and experienced lovers. With a running time of around 1.5 hours, the production promises excitement and enjoyment in a suitable ambience. The performance features a string quartet, an accordionist and five talented vocal soloists. The event will be moderated by Johannes Erkes, an experienced music director and chamber musician.

A classic with a modern twist

The plot of “Così fan tutte” is well known and well received by many: two couples put their loyalty to the test, which leads to complex, often humorous conflicts. This timeless theme is taken outdoors and in an informal setting, making classical music easier to access. This project has already seen 12 sold-out performances in Regensburg - a sign that the demand for such cultural events is high, Aurelia reports that....

A lot is at stake: The increasing popularity of such open-air events shows that people in Regensburg and the surrounding area appreciate and actively use the cultural offerings. The organizer would like a donation, and a donation receipt will be issued for an amount of 200 euros or more. Every cent goes towards the continuation of such cultural projects that appeal to and inspire new target groups.

A feast for all senses

What makes the event at the Thon-Dittmer Palais so special? The historic courtyard provides a unique setting and the atmosphere is sure to be unforgettable. The performances in such a picturesque setting not only create a connection to the music, but also to the history of Regensburg. This means listeners can experience a piece of cultural history in a particularly impressive setting.

The “Music on Wheels” initiative is also an answer to the question of how classical art enjoyment can be transported into the present. A good knack for program design and an open concept for everyone are offered here - ideal for all age groups. By reviving the art to a wider public, the foundation is taking an important step towards getting more people interested in the world of opera.
