New commercial boss: Béla Szabó heads the Pfaffenhofen public utility company!
Good news from Pfaffenhofen! The municipal utilities are facing a change in leadership. Béla Szabó, a 45-year-old business economist and tax consultant with extensive experience in the municipal energy industry, is appointed as the new commercial director. He is scheduled to take office on October 1, 2025. In the future, Szabó will form the board duo together with Thomas Wiringer, who is responsible for the technical area. This management team is currently complete again after the Board of Directors voted in favor of this decision last month.
In the meantime, the company will be managed on an interim basis by Wiringer and Claudia Jonas. This is a particularly exciting time for the municipal utilities, which have developed from a classic construction yard into a modern service provider since 2013. They not only ensure the local water and energy supply, but also take care of the maintenance of the public infrastructure and cemetery operations. The commitment to future topics such as the sale of green electricity and gas as well as the expansion of renewable energies and e-mobility show that the municipal utilities have their finger on the pulse of the times.
Experience and commitment
Béla Szabó brings impressive professional experience to his new position. He had been working in the energy industry since 2007, initially at E.ON-Energie-AG and later as general manager of Kommunale Energie Regensburger Land (KERL) until the end of 2023. His extensive expertise will be of great benefit to the municipal utility, especially in the current phase of transformation and growth.
Mayor Thomas Herker (SPD) emphasizes the importance of the complete management team. “Now that Szabó is on board, we can come up with a breath of fresh air and new ideas,” said Herker euphorically. Stadtwerke is a municipal service company that is 100 percent owned by citizens. This independence and local connection are of great importance for the citizens.
Outlook for the future
The further development in the municipal utilities is impressive: In addition to the energy and water supply, they also operate the local electricity and gas network via subsidiaries. In addition, the free city bus, which has been offered since 2022, is very popular.
Under the new board duo Szabó and Wiringer, it will be exciting to see what innovations and improvements the municipal utilities will present in the coming period. Even if Stefan Eisenmann leaves his executive chair, the future of Stadtwerke Pfaffenhofen is more than secured with this strong duo in leadership.
