FC Bayern celebrates 10-0 victory – Lennart Karl shines in his professional debut!
A spectacular start for FC Bayern Munich in the new season of the FIFA Club World Cup! On June 16, 2025, the team picked up an impressive 10-0 win against Auckland City in Cincinnati. In this historic game, Bayern not only offered a fireworks display of goals, but also the premiere of a new talent: Lennart Karl made his professional debut and immediately showed that he is a player for the future.
From the first minute there was no doubt about Bayern's superiority. Kingsley Coman gave the team the lead in the 6th minute. Only a short time later, three goals in three minutes followed from Sacha Boey, Michael Olise and again Coman. At halftime it was already 6-0 after Thomas Müller and Olise struck successfully. Jamal Musiala joined the team in the second half and capped his return with a hat-trick before Müller scored the final goal, marking his 250th goal for Bayern in 752 games.
A new star in the football sky
Lennart Karl, the 1.68 meter tall offensive talent, attracted attention during the game against Auckland with a courageous dribble and a shot from a tight angle. “Good for him, good for Bayern,” said coach Vincent Kompany, praising the young player who has already made a name for himself at FC Bayern in the U17 and U19. His advisor is none other than ex-Bayern professional Michael Ballack, who supports him in his development.
In a statement, Jonathan Tah, who also made his debut in the game, advised Karl to continue to work hard and not sit back. Kompany also mentioned how important these first minutes on the world stage are for the young player. "Karl can play offensively on the right, left and centrally. He has great potential," said the coach.
A new format for the Club World Cup
This edition of the FIFA Club World Cup marks the beginning of a new era, as from 2025 the competition will be held every four years in a new format with 32 participating teams. The last event in the previous mode took place in December 2023 in Saudi Arabia. With the aim of representing more associations and creating a structure similar to the World Cup for national teams, 32 teams will be looking for the title in the future. In the new format, a knockout system will also apply from the round of 16 onwards. The first event in the new mode will take place in the USA.
For FC Bayern, this triumphant start to the new Club World Cup not only represents a first step towards defending their title, but also a platform to draw attention to themselves with young talents like Lennart Karl. The next group game will take place on Friday against the experienced Boca Juniors from Argentina. The fans can be curious to see whether Bayern can continue their successful streak there and whether Karl can continue to establish himself as a key player.
