Landshut Volunteer Fire Department is training 10 new chemical protection officers!
Things are really happening in Landshut! The volunteer fire department got busy last week and trained another ten firefighters to wear chemical protective suits. This important measure took place from Thursday evening to Saturday afternoon in the Achdorf fire engine and included a total of 15 comprehensive teaching units. At the head of the training team were Alexander Zerrmann and Franz Dax, who gave everything with their specialist knowledge to optimally prepare the participants for the mission. They received support from several trainers from the Achdorf fire brigade, all of whom made a valuable contribution.
What is on the training program? In addition to the theoretical and legal basics, the firefighters were also introduced to the practical handling of chemical protective suits (CSA). This included exercises on how to dress properly and the use of anti-fog agents for the suits' visors. A special highlight was the familiarization exercise on Thursday, during which the participants slipped into the protective suits for the first time.
Practical operational exercises
The stress exercise followed on Friday evening, a real endurance test for the firefighters. The task here was to complete a team task with a sanding basket stretcher in chemical protection suits. On Saturday there were again practical exercises on the program, which took place in the courtyard of the Karl Heiss School. The correct procedure for exploring operational sites was rehearsed, leaks were sealed and leaking liquids were collected. The participants also learned how to secure broken granulate packs and carry out important peripheral measures such as sealing manhole covers.
To ensure everything went smoothly, the decontamination unit of the Hofberg fire brigade was also involved in the exercises. Here, particular emphasis was placed on ensuring that thorough decontamination was carried out after contact with dangerous substances before the suits could be taken off again. The successful completion of the course was finally celebrated with a certificate presentation by city fire officer Sebastian Öllerer.
Interest in current trends
But it's not just the fire department in Landshut that's causing a stir. There's also a lot going on when it comes to modern technology! Music lovers can look forward to the diverse selection of Bluetooth speakers, which are particularly popular these days. Whether training outdoors or spending cozy evenings at home, the portable speakers offer the right solution for every occasion. Brands like JBL, Bose and Sony offer innovative models that are not only wireless, but also deliver clear sound quality on the go. Some of these speakers are even waterproof and shockproof, making them ideal companions for all outdoor activities.
Finally, it remains to be said: While the Landshut Volunteer Fire Department prepares for all eventualities, the technology does not stand still either. Landshut's citizens can rely on a well-positioned fire department that is always one step ahead when it comes to safety - and music lovers can also enjoy first-class sound experiences thanks to new technologies. Cheers to the diversity of our city!
