Attention families and steam locomotive fans! On Saturday, July 5, 2025, a very special event will take place: The Bavarian Railway Museum e. v. organizes a train trip with the impressive express train steam locomotive 01 066, which saw the light of day in 1928. This nostalgic journey on the steam train “50 Years of BLV” leads from Nördlingen via Donauwörth, Augsburg Hbf and Mammendorf to Landshut and is part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the BLV Bavarian Local Railway Association e. v..
Steam locomotive 70 083, in use for the first time after seven years of repairs, will drive the train, which consists of 1st class and 2nd class express train cars as well as a dining car. The same locomotive will transport passengers safely and in style to the celebrations in Landshut, where an open day at the railway depot is on the agenda.
A colorful program for young and old
A varied supporting program awaits visitors in Landshut. In addition to a vehicle and model train exhibition, guests can enjoy cab rides and take part in exciting tours. Your physical well-being is also taken care of: the dining car serves delicious dishes such as white sausage breakfast and other culinary snacks, as well as hot and chilled drinks.
Entry to the BLV workshop is included in the fare. The association's mission is to preserve and operate historic trains and to collect valuable railway material. Not only can you experience the history of the railway up close; the Local railway museum in Bayerisch Eisenstein offers exciting insights into Bavaria's railway history.
Fares and schedule
The prices for the trip are a fair 80 euros per adult from Nördlingen or Donauwörth and 75 euros from Augsburg Hbf or Mammendorf. Small group and family discounts are available, making the trip affordable for everyone. Passengers can look forward to the following departure times:
- Nördlingen ab ca. 7:40 Uhr
- Donauwörth ab ca. 8:35 Uhr
- Augsburg Hbf ab ca. 9:10 Uhr
- Mammendorf ab ca. 9:40 Uhr
- Landshut Hbf an ca. 11:00 Uhr
The return journey from Landshut is planned for around 4:30 p.m. The reserved seats mean that passengers are well looked after so that they can enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere in a relaxed manner.
