The Guntiafest in Günzburg, a highlight in the Bavarian event calendar, is just around the corner! On the last weekend in June, more precisely on June 28th and 29th, 2025, the city will once again become the center for celebrations and a good atmosphere. [Augsburger Allgemeine](https://www.augsburger- Allgemeine.de/guenzburg/guntiafest-guenzburg-2025-programm-umzug-bands-27-6-25-109448298) reports that this festival has been celebrated since 1977 and is organized annually by various local associations. Every visitor can look forward to a varied program that includes music, dance performances, DJs and culinary delights. A real treat for the whole family!
The big parade starts on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Bgm.-Landmann-Platz with around 250 participants. Mayor Gerhard Jauernig will officially open the festival at 4:00 p.m. The VfL Günzburg dance program will also be shown there from 4:10 p.m. to 4:50 p.m. There will be a children's disco for the little guests before the day ends at 8 p.m. with a DJ and party time at FC Günzburg. In addition, there are many activities in the museum courtyard, Hofgasse and the market square with numerous attractions.
Program highlights and attractions
Sunday is all about music. From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the musicians of MV Wasserburg will ensure the best atmosphere at the morning pint concert. Taekwondo demonstrations and contributions from Mindeltalschule students are also part of the colorful program. In addition, a variety of activities are planned in the museum courtyard and the surrounding squares on Sunday.
Children can let off steam with bouncy castles, face painting and the popular Punch and Judy show. But the Guntia Festival is not just fun – there is also a lot to experience in terms of cuisine. The city of Günzburg has come up with something to make the event safe and attractive for everyone. Günzburg.de states that closures in the old town area are necessary for the duration of the festival. From Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to Monday, June 30, 10:00 a.m., traffic in the festival area will be stopped. In addition, a special traffic permit will be set up for residents.
Traffic information and parking options
To make it easier for visitors to get there, the city recommends using the outskirts of the city center for parking and exploring the old town on foot. There are numerous parking spaces available, including at the Capuchin Wall and the Hechtweiher. Taxi spaces and disabled parking spaces are available on Jahnstrasse.
To ensure a smooth and safe festival, safety regulations apply during the festival: On Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. and on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., access roads to the festival site will be closed to ensure access for the police, fire department and rescue services. Of course, safety measures will also be taken so that all festival visitors can celebrate without any worries.
