Claudia Wieser: Art that makes you think
The international artist Claudia Wieser inspires with her exhibition in Ebersberg Art Association, which opened exactly on today's date, June 27, 2025. Wieser, who was born in 1973 in Pöring, a district of Zorneding, is known for her geometrically reduced formal language and is dedicated to the combination of drawing, painting and sculptural objects. Exhibitions in large houses like that Yves Saint Laurent Museum in Paris and that Drawing Center in New York underline their international recognition.
After an early interest in art, which led her to training as a blacksmith at the Bergmeister Kunstschmiede in Ebersberg, she studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Her apprenticeship had a decisive influence on her, as she not only developed a feel for materials, but also the stamina necessary to gain a foothold in the art field. In fact, only 5% of their fellow students manage to make a living from art alone.
Insight into the creative process
The exhibition entitled “Every time you play a hand differently…” shows design sketches from the last two decades. What's exciting is that these works were not originally intended for the public. They give visitors a unique insight into the artist's creative process and point to the lack of knowledge that often plays a role in the design process. The works are not only diverse - from woven tapestries to mirror works to drawings and ceramics - but also affordable, as the limited prints of the sketches are available from just 450 euros.
For art lovers, there are also original drawings in this exhibition, which range in price between 8,000 and 35,000 euros. The opening will be celebrated at 7 p.m. with a concert by the band “Alte Leute”, and the finissage on July 27, 2025 will include an exciting artist talk at 3 p.m.
Art market and contemporary art
Wieser's works are part of a dynamic art market that is described as an event system that is attracting more and more private art collectors. Contemporary art has become a status symbol, and shifts in buyer behavior play a crucial role. The art market is divided into primary and secondary markets, with local galleries such as those in Ebersberg acting as valuable platforms. There is no doubt that her training and experiences through various exhibitions and scholarships have made her a fixture in the art world.
In times when digitalization is revolutionizing the art market and appealing to new groups of buyers, the importance of art fairs - such as Art Basel - is becoming increasingly relevant for local artists like Wieser. These fairs not only offer the opportunity for artists to present their work, but also create social exchange and spontaneous experiences that are of great importance for many collectors and interested parties.
The exhibition at the Ebersberg Art Association is not only a look back at Claudia Wieser's personal artistic development, but also an important contribution to current discourses about contemporary art in public spaces.
The doors are open to visitors on Fridays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A visit is definitely worth it!
