Nördlinger City Run: Register now and conquer the route!

It starts tomorrow! On June 15, 2025 it's that time again: the popular Nördlinger city run invites all running enthusiasts and little athletes to take to the routes. The starting signal will be fired at 3:45 p.m. on the market square, where there will be a lot of energy and anticipation in the air. With the registration deadline fast approaching, now is the best time to register for the event.

The youngest, those born in 2019 and younger, are allowed to complete a distance of 400 meters around St. George's Church. At 4:00 p.m., the students from the years 2016 to 2018 will follow, taking on an even greater challenge, and at 4:15 p.m. it will be the turn of the runners from the years 2013 to 2015. This group will run two laps before the main run starts at 4:45 p.m. The route for the big runners is 6 kilometers, while the short distance is 3 kilometers.

Rules and special features

As with any well-organized event, there are some important rules that participants should follow. Dogs on a leash are not allowed on the day of the event, and anyone who wants to compete with headphones or in-ear headphones should better reconsider their plans, as these will not be tolerated. In addition, personal cycling companions are prohibited and can lead to disqualification. Especially with younger children, it is important that parents only register their children if they can complete the rounds independently.

A few things have changed in connection with children's athletics. For example, the German Athletics Association (DLV) decided on changes to the German Athletics Regulations on February 26, 2016. These changes must be adopted by the WLV, as a member association. From 2017 onwards, a uniform, paperless system for approving events was also sought to make the process easier for everyone involved. All events that take place at club and district level must also be registered with the WLV.

Current developments

Children's athletics itself is subject to the regulations that were decided on February 25, 2011 and were last updated on July 25, 2014. Disciplines such as the classic three-way fight are no longer permitted for the U8 and U10 age groups. In the U12, however, both children's athletics disciplines and international competition regulations can be used. In order to make the event even more interesting, there is no requirement for a starting pass so that the young athletes can take part without any worries.

The organization surrounding the Nördlinger city run not only offers great competition for the participants, but also promotes community and the sporting spirit in the region. This tradition attracts not only local runners, but also visitors and spectators who want to enjoy the exciting atmosphere and cheer on their loved ones. If you haven't done it yet, you shouldn't waste any time and register quickly. The Nördlinger city run promises to be a celebration for the whole family!
