The new trainer Fabian Strauß has already drawn two exciting newcomers ashore: Julius Böhmer from the Würzburg Baskets and Hendrik Drescher from the VET-Concept Gladiators Trier. Böhmer, 23 years old and 1.93 m tall, is planned on the position of the point guards, but also has to act the potential as a shoot or small forward. His injury history applies for special attention; After a cruciate ligament rupture, he had to take a longer forced break, but now wants to dare to restart. With its 2.04 m height, Drescher not only brings heavy, but also quality to the team and is classified as "Big Man". The newcomers Böhmer and Drescher are part of a strategic realignment at BG Göttingen, which has decided to increase the proportion of German players in the team. In addition to the two new ones, Mathis Mönninghoff, Lennart Schultz, Janis Jünemann, Robin Lodder and Daniel Kirchner are also in the squad. The plan stipulates that only four import players are obliged, which represents a reduction in the previous regulation of six import players. For those who do not yet know Hendrik Drescher: the 25-year-old comes fresh from VfL Sparkassenstars Bochum and brings impressive statistics. He started his basketball career in the primary school in Berlin-Neukölln and went through the youth school in Alba Berlin, where he made his debut in the Bundesliga at the age of 17. His successes in the NBBL, where he was recognized in 2018 as a must value player, speak for themselves. He was also able to gain international experiences with the German U16 and U18 national teams, which also puts him in the spotlight.
