Pupils from Poland discover the Unterallgäu: an intercultural adventure!

Unterallgäu, Deutschland - The student exchange between the Unterallgäu and the Polish district of Gostyn goes into the next round. A group of students from Gostyn recently visited the Unterallgäu in order to further deepen the existing friendly connections. This visit, which takes place as part of an official partnership, was organized by the Joseph-Bernhart-Gymnasium and is part of a long tradition that has existed since 1987 and has been officially continued since 2001. District Administrator Alex Eder and partnership officer Michael Stoiber warmly welcomed the group and underlined the importance of such intercultural encounters for everyone involved. As part of this partnership, over 1,000 students and interns have already expanded their knowledge and made friendships.

In the coming days, the guests were waiting for a varied program. In addition to a visit to the district office, which gave exciting insights into the municipal processes, there was also a visit to the amusement park and a tour of the Allgäu. A highlight was the city tour in Munich, where the cultural heritage and the Bavarian way of life could be experienced up close. Such experiences are not only entertaining, but also promote intercultural learning and understanding for other ways of life.

Promotion of intercultural skills

like Dr. Gabriela Fellmann, headmistress at the Peine Ratsgymnasium, emphasized in her work on the international student exchange, such exchange projects are a crucial part of school education. It not only promotes intercultural competence, but also the personality development of the young people. In order to draw the greatest possible benefit from an exchange, intensive preparation, accompaniment during the stay and a follow -up is essential. For this purpose, schools should receive enough resources and support in order to anchor the exchange as an integral part of the lesson.

The group from Gostyn experienced the exchange as particularly enriching. The encounters made it possible for the students to deal with new traditions and to deepen their language skills through direct interaction. When living in host families, you can not only get to know the everyday life of our homeland, but also immerse yourself in our culture.

The trip to the future

The Europa-Gymnasium emphasizes in its exchange programs that through careful planning and support of the students, both cultural learning and personal development can be initiated. From the point of view of the parties, the exchange should not be considered an additional offer, but as a fixed pillar of school education. Former participants regularly report open perspectives and an improved understanding of cultural differences, which often gives them a strengthened self -confidence and valuable language skills.

In times when the world moves closer and intercultural communication plays an important role, the exchange between schools as in the Unterallgäu and Gostyn is invaluable. Such programs make a decisive contribution to building bridges and preparing future generations for the challenges of a globalized world. The next encounters are already in the starting blocks, and it will be interesting to see what new experiences the students will gain in the future.
