The Straubing Tigers rely on young talent

The Straubing Tigers are optimistic for the coming season and are relying more heavily than ever on promising young players. Those responsible have announced that Linus Brandl (20), Tobias Schwarz (19) and Simon Seidl (18) will remain in the squad. All three cracks had a sponsorship license last season and played for EV Landshut. Linus Brandl has already gained experience in the PENNY DEL and brings valuable playing experience with him. Tobias Schwarz was previously active in the U20 SM-sarja for KooKoo, while Simon Seidl already played in the USHL for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. “The experience the boys were able to gain is enormously valuable,” said Jason Dunham, the Tigers’ athletic director, in a recent interview. The goal remains clear: the players should be supported on their path and given the chance to prove themselves at PENNY DEL level.

Looking at the team, the players are happy about their continued commitments. Linus Brandl is enthusiastic about the team spirit and his role in the squad. Simon Seidl wants to use the new season to develop further, and Tobias Schwarz has decided to work hard to support the team in the best possible way.

Support license for young goalkeepers

Equally important is the decision to award goalkeeper Klaus Hieronymus a sponsorship license. The goalkeeper, who is only 19 years old, completed his first training session with the DEL team on Friday morning. “His hard work and commitment to training at EHC Straubing should motivate other young players,” emphasizes Manfred Lermer, the EHC’s sports director. Hieronymus has not only impressed with his performances in the EHC U19 team, but has also played games for the first team.

Changes in the system of funding license players

The regulations regarding sponsored license players in the PENNY DEL and DEL2 will be revised starting next season. The previous rule that allowed each DEL2 club to cooperate with only one PENNY DEL club is no longer applicable. From now on, DEL development license players can be freely distributed between the DEL2 clubs. This makes it easier for players to find locations and gives them more flexibility. In addition, the age limit for licensed players will be lowered from U24 to U23, which means that younger talents now have more opportunities to prove themselves. In order to take part in the finals, the requirements for field players and goalkeepers remain.

Those responsible see the modification of the licensing regulations as a positive step to further advance the development of young talent and give the teams more leeway. “The interaction between the clubs is particularly important in order to offer the players the best conditions,” says DEL2 managing director René Rudorisch.

The Straubing Tigers are looking forward to the coming season and are looking forward to the new challenge, in which young, versatile players will also play an important role. In the long term, the squad should be further strengthened by integrating talented players, which will benefit fans and players alike.
