The new A classes for the 2025/26 season: Who plays where?
The anticipation of the coming season in Lower Bavarian football is looking forward to the new 2025/26 season, which begins on the weekend of July 26th and 27th. In the East football district, the 133 A-class teams have now been divided into ten different leagues, including three 14-a-side leagues and seven 13-a-side leagues. This division is an exciting but also challenging time for the clubs to set the course for the coming season. Fupa reports that A total of 133 teams will compete in the A classes, which underlines the popularity of football in the regional area.
What is particularly noteworthy is that teams from Passau take part in two different A classes. The A-Class Passau will be without a relegated team, while in the A-Class Regen and the A-Class Grafenau three teams each have been relegated from the district classes. This shows that the competition in the A class will be strong and the teams will have to fight hard for success.
A-classes at a glance
A closer look at the A classes makes it clear which teams the leagues consist of. There are 14 teams on the schedule in the A-class Straubing, with FC Aiterhofen and DJK Leiblfing starting the new season as relegated teams. The Viechtach A-Class has 13 teams, including the newly formed FC Al-Salam Regen, while the Deggendorf A-Class also has 13 teams, including FC Deggendorf.

The development of the A classes reflects the changes in amateur football. When dividing up the new leagues, the challenge for the BFV game managers is to divide the 32 district league teams and 28 eastern district league teams into two seasons. The Passauer Neue Presse emphasizes that the four champions and the relegants will fight hard for promotion to the higher leagues. 28 clubs from the region have qualified and will do everything in their power to be successful.
The long-awaited preparation for the season is just around the corner, and the teams have little time to find their form and prepare optimally for the challenges ahead. The new and relegated teams in particular will be eager to prove themselves in the new league and delight the fans with exciting games. So things remain exciting in Lower Bavarian football!
