Starnberg Business Prize 2025: AI as the key to the future!

On November 28, 2025, everything in the Gautinger wide-screen cinema was focused on artificial intelligence (AI). On this day, the renowned business award of the Starnberg district was awarded, with the theme of the event being “AI as a driver of the future – artificial intelligence in application”. South German newspaper was. The ten nominated companies were introduced through innovative presentations created by AI, ranging from a virtual speaker to a dancing digital employee.

The award winners included well-known names such as: EOS from Krailling and TQ Systems from Seefeld, which were awarded in the category of larger companies (50 or more employees). EOS is known for its push into industrial 3D printing and operates an AI competence center, while TQ-Systems uses an AI language model for quick answers in production.

The winners in detail

Smaller companies were also recognized. In the category up to 50 employees received Tourism experts from Starnberg and Vonjan Technology from the inning the award. The latter impressed with their digital assistants, who act as team members and facilitate communication with customers through a chatbot. The aim of these innovative approaches is not to replace human labor, but rather to actively support employees.

When selecting the winners from 40 applications received, the jury paid particular attention to how the companies integrate AI into their processes and what clear goals they pursue. Aspects such as sustainability, resilience and future viability played a crucial role. “We not only want to recognize the companies for their technological achievements, but also emphasize their responsibility in society,” said District Administrator Stefan Frey during his opening speech.

The importance of AI in business

The opening of the awards ceremony also highlighted the far-reaching impact of AI on the economy as a whole. “Companies are under pressure to find innovative AI solutions,” explained Christoph Winkelkötter, Managing Director of the Society for Economic and Tourism Promotion (gwt). With economic growth of 133 million euros in trade tax last year, the Starnberg district ranks fifth in Bavaria in terms of tax capacity - and that's just the beginning, considering that investments in AI could add up to over 1.6 billion euros by 2024, according to a report by Euronews.

But the challenges are diversifying. According to digitalization researcher Rainer Rehak, there is a lack of concrete business models for AI and there are fears that not all investments will result in recognizable returns in the future. This presents companies with the task of investing not only in technology, but also in a viable strategy to exploit the full potential of AI.

Today's awards are impressive proof that companies in the Starnberg district have set out to not only use AI as a tool to increase efficiency, but also see it as a partner on the way to a sustainable and innovative future.
