A very special event is just around the corner in the sunny town of Schwabach: the art biennale “Ortung 14”! From August 9th to 24th, 2025, the city of Schwabach and local artists invite you to discover the city from a new perspective. With its motto “Under the Sign of Gold,” the Biennale builds on the region’s traditional gold-cutting art and presents works in the most charming places in the old town, where art is integrated into everyday life.
This remarkable art festival, which has firmly established itself in the regional and national cultural scene, is taking place for the fourteenth time. The first biennale was launched in 1999 and has since become a highlight in the event calendar. Advance ticket sales for the guided tours have already begun, which only increases the anticipation for the event.
Local highlights and ticket prices
The works of art are not only exhibited in galleries, but are spread throughout the city center - in churches, former shops, public squares and even in hidden courtyards. Stop by Königsplatz or get inspired in one of the city's green oases.
The opening times are generous so that art lovers have enough time to enjoy the exhibitions:
- Montag, Dienstag, Mittwoch, Freitag: 13 bis 19 Uhr

Cultural supporting program
The supporting program of the Biennale is also something special: from art performances and exciting lectures to workshops and impressive Goldschläger demonstrations - there is no chance of being bored. The biennale opens on August 9th at 11 a.m. and an art prize worth 8,000 euros will also be awarded. At the finissage on August 24th, the audience prizes worth 3,000 euros will be awarded.
A special aspect of the Biennale is the accommodation of the artists. These are privately housed by sponsoring families from Schwabach, which not only adds a personal touch, but also promotes exchange between artists and the community.
