Cyber danger in focus: Business reception reveals criminal trends!

There was a huge crowd at the second IHK business reception in Kolbermoor. Entrepreneurs, politicians and representatives of the administration came together to discuss the challenges and opportunities of digitalization. IT security expert Tobias Schrödel gave an insightful lecture in which he addressed the dangers posed by hackers, online fraudsters and the dark web. In doing so, he gave those present an insight into the dark side of the digital world, which is increasingly affecting small and medium-sized companies.

The importance of IT security was a central theme of the evening. The renowned scientist Gabi Dreo Rodosek from the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich called for a rethink. In her opinion, it is time for companies to take the dangers of the cyber world seriously. Peter Danil from the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) also recommended taking proactive steps. He emphasized that companies should prepare for cyber attacks because unfortunately there is no universal solution to protect data. He presented the BSI's cyber risk check as a first step towards improving IT security.

The threat situation at a glance

A look into the future shows that the cyber threat landscape will become even more complex and diverse by 2025. Forecasts warn of AI-driven attacks and a rise in targeted ransomware attacks on digital supply chains, which could target not only large companies but also smaller providers. The focus has particularly been on the risks posed by artificial intelligence and its increased use by cybercriminals. Attacks are becoming more personalized, and the risk of unintentional data leaks increases enormously due to the uncontrolled use of AI. company-cybersecurity.de reports on threats such as deepfakes, which enable manipulation in social media, and quantum threats, which endanger classic security standards in the long term.

“You have to keep your eyes open, but also not deny yourself digital advances,” was another point that was raised again and again in the discussions. The importance of being vigilant without panicking was highlighted. And here too, it is important to provide companies with specific guidelines for the use of AI and to provide employees with appropriate training.

Support for companies

In order to meet the numerous challenges, VSMA GmbH offers industry-specific cyber insurance and a cyber awareness service. In addition, the “Company Cybersecurity” initiative has created an information portal that provides helpful tips and work aids. The aim is to raise awareness among entrepreneurs in Bavaria so that they can better assess and ward off cyber risks.

The response to the business reception was consistently positive. Entrepreneurs see the need to address this issue more intensively. As already indicated in the evening, it will be crucial to continue to actively talk about the opportunities and risks of digitalization in the future and to find solutions that offer real protection.
