SV Töging starts as a promoted team in the district league: finally derbies again!

SV Töging is in the starting blocks! On Friday, coach Alexander Sommer asks his team to start training for summer preparation. After a successful year in which the team won the championship in the Regensburg District League 2, the club is now preparing for the new challenge in the Oberpfalz Süd District League. This is the club's second promotion to district level, having qualified for this league for the first time in 2011. However, relegation in 2012 meant that they had to put their own ambitions on hold for the time being. Chairman Herbert Wolfsteiner notes that the conditions for staying in the league at the time were far more difficult than today, which only increases optimism for the coming season.

The goal is clear: staying in the league. Last season there were three relegation participants and one direct relegation in the district league. Thanks to a steady promotion - from 2022 to the district league, then to the district league and now to the district league - it will be anything but easy for SV Töging, but player-coach Sommer exudes a certain amount of confidence in the strengths of his team. “We have worked hard and each of us is ready for the new challenges,” he emphasizes.

Looking forward to exciting derbies

An absolute highlight of the new season will be the meeting with TSV Kareth-Lappersdorf, who played one of the last games in the state league. “There’s something going on!” smiles Wolfsteiner, who also highlights the derbies against Breitenbrunn and the proximity to Parsberg. Games like these are always special and bring additional motivation.

In order to get the season off to a good start, the club has also pushed ahead with its squad planning. With three talented young players from our own A youth team - Elias Ibl, Florian Reigl and Julian Eberl - and Louis Scherübl from ASV Batzhausen, they have brought a breath of fresh air into the team. In this way, those responsible are showing a good hand at integrating young players into the team.

Preparation phase and test games

The first three test matches are already on SV Töging's schedule. On June 21st they will face ATSV Kelheim from the Lower Bavaria district league, followed by a duel against SC Kirchdorf on July 6th and finally a meeting with TSV Greding on July 13th. The team will also take part in the TSV Dietfurt 7 Valley Cup on June 28th and 29th. These preparation games will be crucial in testing the players' form and gaining the necessary competitive action.

The start of the season is scheduled for July 20th, although the opponent has not yet been determined. It's an exciting year for SV Töging, both on a sporting and emotional level, and the anticipation in the club is palpable. What happens next? Stay tuned!
