Murder case in Obermenzing: Police are looking for witnesses – who can help?

A shocking murder has shocked Obermenzing. 62-year-old Ulrich Zilker, who lived alone on Keyserlingstrasse, was found on July 7, 2025 - dead for several days. Like that Bavaria Police reported, an autopsy conducted on July 10, 2025 confirmed the gruesome suspicion of a homicide. Zilker led a withdrawn life and was considered to have little contact. His place of residence and a second home on Keferloherstrasse, Milbertshofen, are being examined more closely by the investigative authorities at Commissariat 11.

The Munich police have already launched a call for help. Anyone who knew Ulrich Zilker or has information about his final days is asked to get in touch. The investigators are particularly interested in encounters with Zilker, especially in his neighborhood or while shopping. Zilker often traveled with a backpack and a shopping trolley, which made him well known in the neighborhood. Information can be sent directly to Criminal Investigation Department 1 on 089/63007-0.

Traffic accidents and other incidents

Shortly before this tragic event, there were further incidents in the Munich area. On July 14, 2025, a traffic accident occurred in Moosach, in which a 22-year-old city resident crashed his BMW into trees and traffic signs. Both the driver and a 20-year-old passenger were injured and had to be taken to hospital. The accident is currently being investigated by the Munich traffic police. The property damage amounts to tens of thousands of euros.

At the same time, an accident occurred in Maxvorstadt in which a 37-year-old cyclist fell due to a gust of wind. Although she took herself to the hospital, she was able to prevent more serious head injuries by wearing a bicycle helmet. The Munich traffic police are also investigating here.

Fire and bodily harm

Another event that marked the week was the fire in a grain field in Bogenhausen, which broke out on July 12, 2025. The fire brigade was able to extinguish the fire over an area of ​​50 x 300 meters. Investigations by Commissariat 13 are also ongoing, and the police are asking for information from the public, for example about sightings in the Im Moosgrund, Lebermoosweg and Apenrader Straße areas.

Meanwhile, an assault offense that took place on July 14, 2025 is being solved in Ottobrunn. A 12-year-old girl was threatened with a knife by a male perpetrator and injured herself while defending herself. The perpetrator, who fled and has not yet been found, is described as around 30 years old and slim, with a southern appearance and short black hair. Here, too, there is a call for witnesses to support the search.
