Burglar in court: 68 crimes in 14 days and a total loss of 76,000 euros!

A 34-year-old Austrian in Mühldorf left a heavy burden. Andreas X. was convicted of a real series of burglaries that took place within just 14 days. A total of 68 crimes, including 24 completed and 44 attempted burglaries, spread through the communities of Buchbach, Schwindegg, Obertaufkirchen and even as far as Munich. The targets were as diverse as the damage it left behind: from schools to sports centers, restaurants to community centers and the town hall, a wide variety of places were hit.

The damage balance is shocking. In total, the convicted person stole around 15,976 euros, while the property damage amounted to around 60,995 euros. These figures show how large the scale of the crimes was and how many people had to suffer as a result. The defendant, who said he acted because of his drug addiction, said he was clean before the burglaries, but stopped therapy after his grandmother died and from then on consumed 10 to 15 grams of cocaine every day.

The arrest and the verdict

The police arrested Andreas X. on May 19th in an allotment garden in Munich with burglary tools and stolen goods. The identification was achieved through fingerprints, DNA traces and video recordings, which led the investigators to him. At the trial, the prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of three years and six months, which could possibly be commuted to therapy. The defense attorney argued for a lower sentence of two years and nine months.

The court ultimately decided on a sentence of three years and three months in a rehabilitation center. Andreas And the verdict is final - both parties waived their right to appeal in the courtroom.

Worrying burglaries in the district

But while Andreas X. has already been convicted, the police in Mühldorf remain alert. Since the beginning of last week there have been numerous break-ins in Obertaufkirchen and Schwindegg in the district. Several restaurants, a town hall and a school building were affected. On Friday night, another community center and the rectory in Schwindegg were hit, which again caused a lot of material damage.

Shortly before 3:30 a.m., a resident heard the sound of a pane of glass clinking, which ultimately led the police to investigate. It is believed that the break-ins were committed at night. The police are currently investigating a total of ten burglaries and attempted burglaries, with the damage regularly being in the three-digit and low four-digit range. According to the report, various amounts of cash and technical devices were stolen. The public is asked to pass on information by calling 08631/3673-0.

Mühldorf has a lot to do at the moment - both in solving these current break-ins and in dealing with the consequences of the series of crimes that Andreas X. committed. This shows that the issue of security is still very important and citizens are required to remain vigilant.
