Couple from Amorbach pursues thieves and helps police to arrest them!

What happened on Friday, July 18, 2025, in the “Krummenwiese” in Amorbach (Miltenberg district) sounds like something out of a crime story: A couple who unsuspectingly wanted to shop in a supermarket unintentionally became a hero. With their courageous intervention, the couple helped the police catch three members of a gang of thieves. InFranken reports that shoplifting was committed in the market around 5 p.m.

The suspected perpetrators, a 53-year-old man and two women aged 53 and 29, grabbed several cloth bags filled to the brim with stolen goods and made off. They fled in two cars provided while the couple had already left the store with their purchases. Instead of burying their heads in the sand, the two took the initiative and pursued one of the getaway vehicles. A little later they informed the police about the escapees' location.

The police intervene

Thanks to the couple's quick response, the police were able to act quickly. The two getaway vehicles were checked a short time later and officers seized stolen goods worth several thousand euros. The loot consisted primarily of coffee beans, tobacco and sunscreen, all of which came from the supermarket. Proceedings were immediately initiated against the three suspects.

The Miltenberg police officers paid the couple great respect and thanked them for their support. It is to be hoped that such courageous citizens will continue to be prepared to show civil courage in the future when the situation requires it. The Main-Echo also highlights that the couple's intervention is a perfect example of civic engagement.
