Volunteering as the key to the future: Young people surprise with their commitment!

Committed, motivated and full of energy: In Memmingen, students have made an impressive contribution to the community as part of the “Future” project run by the volunteer agency Werdenslust. Like the city administration on their official website reported, the young people were involved in various social activities over a period of three months and completed at least 24 hours of voluntary work.

The young helpers were active in numerous areas, including training in sports clubs, supporting parents with homework and valuable work with seniors. For their commitment, they received certificates from Mayor Jan Rothenbacher at the town hall, which can be useful for future applications.

Recognition and motivation

When the certificates were awarded, the appreciation of the commitment was omnipresent. Rothenbacher was impressed by the students' commitment and shared his own experiences from his previous voluntary work in nursing. Like the portal local-mm.de continued, 45 young people from the Sebastian-Lotzer-Realschule, the Jakob-Küner-Wirtschaftsschule and the Vöhlin-Gymnasium were honored.

Ursula Keller, project manager at Kreativslust, emphasized how important these projects are for young people. She emphasized the valuable experiences that the young people have gained at their locations. A survey among the participants made it clear that more than half of the young people would like to continue volunteering beyond the project.

Diversity of volunteer work

Volunteering has many faces and is of great importance for society. Loud Statista It not only includes activities in sports clubs, which are the most common form of engagement, but also work in volunteer fire departments, churches and social institutions. More and more people are also supporting food banks and other initiatives to make a difference in their community.

International Volunteer Day on December 5th reminds us how important the work of these committed people is. Here in Memmingen, supporting families in need, working in the animal shelter and looking after underage refugees are among the tasks taken on by the students - a real enrichment for everyone involved.

A big thank you goes to the 31 institutions that made these valuable experiences possible for the young people, as well as to the accompanying teachers who supported the young volunteers. Such projects not only strengthen the community, but also promote access to social issues and the willingness to help shape society.
