Franconian folk dance group impresses at the Kiliani folk festival in Würzburg!

What's going on in Kitzingen? There was a lot going on in the region last weekend, and not just because of the midsummer weather. The Franconian folk dance group Kitzingen (FVTG) was in a party mood and could look back on an eventful weekend. From the Kiliani Folk Festival in Würzburg to the Festival of Cultures in Kitzingen itself, the group had to master some exciting performances.

The weekend started on Saturday afternoon with the traditional Kiliani folk festival parade in Würzburg. Here the FVTG presented its new, large banner and lined up in an impressive formation with over 100 dancers. The parade was not only a feast for the eyes, but also set a strong example for the customs of the region. The next performance followed immediately in the afternoon at the Festival of Cultures in Kitzingen, where the FVTG country group even offered a small line dance course. We then danced together to the sounds of “Achy-Breaky-Heart” – a successful end to a wonderful day!

Day of the Franconians and summer festival

Sunday was all about... Tags of the Franks in Haßfurt, where nine couples from the FVTG competed. This is a beloved tradition that has been around for several years. It started right away at 10 a.m. with an interview at Bayerischer Rundfunk, where the dancers showed some of their performances on the pavement in front of the audience surrounded by microphones. The FVTG couples were first on stage and were allowed to present five different dances. It was a festival of colors and joy!

After these exciting days, the traditional summer festival is now taking place in the FVTG club garden on July 20th. An occasion that many are already looking forward to, because afterwards there will be a short break before continuing with further events in the fall. If you would like to find out more about the FVTG, please visit the Group website lots of information and a picture gallery from the last performances.
