Heat wave over Kitzingen: 40 degrees and storm warnings threaten!

hot temperatures and approaching storms currently shape the weather in Bavaria. Lower Franconia, especially the city of Kitzingen, is heading for an exciting Wednesday: up to 40 degrees Celsius is expected here. A decade ago, the highest value in Germany was measured in Kitzingen at 40.3 degrees. The region is currently again in the focus of the German Weather Service (DWD), which also predicts high temperatures for Kahl am Main, Aschaffenburg and Regensburg. A tropical night will be forecast for the coming night of Thursday, followed by a cold front that brings with it. The DWD warns of hurricane -like gusts, heavy rain and hail.

The severe weather warnings include that up to 40 liters of rain per square meter could fall in individual regions on Thursday. After the oppressive heat at night, it gets much cooler in the following nights, with values between 14 and 17 degrees, in some areas even up to 10 degrees. On Friday, people in Bavaria can look forward to a short weather break, especially in the low mountain ranges and in the Allgäu, while Untermain is an exception. In Kitzingen, pleasant temperatures of around 28 to 29 degrees can be expected on Friday. The weekend brings rising temperatures again.

municipal measures and the risk of forest fire

In view of the heat and drought, the municipalities in Bavaria react differently. The city of Traunstein has called for the population for the economical handling of water. In Munich, grave lights are prohibited in cemeteries to avoid an additional fire and fire risk. In addition, the grilling was banned on popular bathing lakes in the Regensburg area, such as the Guggenberger, Sarchinger and Roither See. The risk of forest fire is also greatly increased in the Free State.

The enormous temperatures and the threat from forest fires are not a local phenomenon. All over Europe, especially in southern Europe, a massive heat wave is on the way. Italy has already announced extremely high temperatures for 21 cities, including Rome and Milan. The official warnings state that even healthy people could suffer from the extreme heat. There, the authorities recommend avoiding the sun from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and using air conditioning systems. In the meantime, the emergency services in Greece are fighting against forest fires, which devastated over 4,000 hectares of land on the island of Chios, while dozens of houses have already been destroyed by the flames in Croatia.

In other European countries such as France and Spain, temperatures above 39 degrees are also expected. Experts emphasize that man -made climate change plays a central role in the increase in such weather extremes. The heat waves have multiplied in June since the beginning of the millennium, and the forecasts for this season indicate a heat -determined future.

The coming days will be a challenge for the people of Bavaria and beyond. It is to be hoped that everyone will prepare well and, together with the municipalities
