Bavarian Dementia Week 2025: Variety of offers in the Haßberge district!

In the Haßberge district, everything in September is focused on raising awareness about the topic of dementia. From September 8th to 30th, 2025, the district office's nursing and housing advice center is organizing numerous events as part of Bavarian Dementia Week. The aim of these campaigns is to strengthen understanding for those affected, to make offers of help visible and to provide the population with comprehensive information. Since 2019, this Dementia Week has been taking place annually around World Alzheimer's Day on September 21st, as stmgp.bayern.de summarizes.

A special highlight of the week will be the interactive exhibition “What goes, what stays – living with dementia”, which will be on display from September 8th to 27th in the entrance area of the library and information center (BIZ) and the multi-generational house in Haßfurt. Here, visitors can understand the perspectives of those affected and their relatives and deal intensively with the topic through books, audio books and films, as in-und-um-schweinfurt.de reports.

Diverse program

For those interested, there is a varied program with a total of twelve events that deal with the topic of dementia. A particular focus is on various lectures that address different aspects. For example, Laura Wulle will give a lecture on “Being in Balance – Stress and Eyes” in the Multi-Generation House on September 18th. Here, knowledge about the connection between stress and eyes is conveyed. Registration is required by calling 09521/9528250.

On Monday, September 22nd, there will be another lecture by Markus Proske, which will address the challenges of the disease under the title “Learn to understand dementia better”. Registrations are possible until September 14th at 09521/27396. The topic of architecture is also covered: Dr. Birgit Dietz will speak on September 23rd about “Dementia-Sensitive Architecture” – an event highlight for architects and planners.

For anyone who would like to learn more about nutrition for dementia, experts Marina Benkert and Waltraud Schraudner will be offering valuable tips in the conference rooms at the Haßfurt Medical Center on September 24th.

Health-promoting offers

In addition to the lectures, there is also time for practical experience. The “Journey to Yesterday” campaign on September 22nd in the multi-generational house will not only be about nostalgia, but also about a relaxing atmosphere with a musical coffee.

For preventive health care, there will be a dementia screening on September 25th, during which people aged 60 and over can undergo a memory test. Registration is also required here in order to politely take the number of participants into account.

The Bavarian Dementia Week has set itself the goal of additionally promoting qualified care and support offers for people with dementia, as the platform stmgp.bayern.de emphasizes. The initiative is intended not only to make existing offers visible, but also to initiate new ideas and initiatives to help those affected.

The Haßberge District Office team is available at any time for all of these events and information. Exchanging ideas with each other and encouraging people to provide support are central elements that are very important during Bavarian Dementia Week.

Participation in the events is in many cases free of charge; registration depends on the event. You can find more information on the Haßberge District Office website or directly in the multi-generational house.
