Ice hockey future secured: 50,000 euros for SC Riessersee!

Something is happening in tranquil Garmisch-Partenkirchen! The ice hockey support association Zukunft Weiß-Blau e.V. was founded less than a year ago and has already gathered an impressive 423 members. At the annual general meeting in October 2025, it was announced that a funding amount of 47,000 euros had been paid out to SC Riessersee for the 2024/25 season in order to sustainably support ice hockey in the region. The district messenger reports that 28,200 euros went to the first team and 18,800 euros to the youth department. This support is crucial for the further promotion of ice hockey, which is becoming increasingly important in Germany.

For the coming 2025/26 season, the funding amount will be increased to 50,000 euros, with 30,000 euros being planned for the first team and 20,000 euros for the young talent. The goal is clear: to support SC Riessersee financially in the long term and sustainably. Members also receive free tickets to home games and an exclusive fan scarf - this makes the ice hockey fever even better!

Support for young people

Andreas Wieland, managing director of SC Riessersee Eishockey Marketing-GmbH, and Benedikt Heimstädt, chairman of the SCR youth team, emphasized the enormous importance of the support from the club at the meeting. Hockey Magazine explains that Effective youth development is crucial for the long-term success of the sport. Ice hockey is a popular sport in Germany, and more and more talent is entering the scene. Historically, support for young players goes back to the 1970s, when the first structures were created that ultimately led to the founding of the German Youth League (DNL) in 2000.

These support initiatives are not only important for training the talents of tomorrow, but also for the clubs themselves. The funds from the support association make it easier to access more ice time and improve the training conditions, especially in the youth sector. The goal is clear: In addition to financial support, special campaigns are also being launched, such as purchasing a new block flag and financing 50% of the costs for new soft boards.

A strong sense of community

The annual general meeting ended with an open discussion in which the members' commitment to the SCR became clear. The number of members is expected to increase to 500 by the end of the year - an ambitious but achievable goal. The Olympia Ice Sports Center is waiting for fans to cheer on the team at home games. The stands are divided into different categories, with comfortable seating and standing room, so there is something for every taste. There are a total of three prize categories during the games, to meet the different needs of visitors.

Overall, the developments at SC Riessersee and the new support association show how important the community is for the sport of ice hockey. It's nice to see that not only the players, but also the fans and the entire region are working together for the success and future of ice hockey. There's something going on!
