Shock for Olching: Braumanufaktur Gut Graßlfing files for bankruptcy!

A bitter farewell is imminent: Olchinger Braumanufaktur (OBM) has filed for bankruptcy and will close its doors on Sunday, August 17, 2025. This marks the end of an era at the listed Gut Graßlfing, where beer has been brewed and numerous events have been held since 2016. Guido Amendt, the managing partner of OBM, commented on the closure and assured that the Graßlfing estate will continue to operate, even if the brewery is no longer part of the concept. The Süddeutsche Zeitung reports that the brewery is aiming for a new start due to the current bankruptcy.

The reasons for bankruptcy are complex. Soaring energy prices, the overall economic situation and the trend towards non-alcoholic beers have taken a toll on the Olching brewery. Amendt and his partner Julius Langosch, who founded the company, are now trying to withdraw from active business. Merkur reports that OBM will not only close the indoor dining area, but also the beer garden.

A look into the future

After the closure, the Olchinger Braumanufaktur is planning a longer summer break during which renovations will take place. Negotiations on a new range of beer are also being advertised: from autumn onwards, regional beers from various breweries will be offered, including the Kühbach brewery. Amendt emphasizes that discussions with interested landlords about continuing gastronomy and events at Gut Graßlfing are already underway.

The catering industry as a whole is under pressure. According to CRIF forecasts, a sharp increase in bankruptcies in the industry is to be expected. The gastronomy magazine reports an increase of over 30 percent in 2024 compared to the previous year. The pressure on many companies, especially after the effects of the pandemic, is clearly noticeable. High inflation, rising prices and changing eating habits have made life difficult for many restaurants.

Although the Olchinger Braumanufaktur has already created many beautiful moments at Gut Graßlfing, new paths must now be taken. The Olchingers will certainly dare to make a new beginning with this important step into the future. The hope for a lively gastronomy in Gut Graßlfing remains, even if restructuring is now necessary in order to meet the challenges of the time.
