Sporting rival and big donations: Tavern festival inspires Preying!
The tavern festival in Preying attracts numerous visitors every year. This year, from June 6th to 9th, 2025, the TSV Preying under a brilliant sky, a colorful program that captivated young and old alike. For two days the focus was on sporting competitions, which were extremely popular even in bad weather. Despite the circumstances, 56 of 60 registered teams took part in the popular “Bayerwald Mixed” volleyball tournament. The athletes not only fought for victory, but also for a good cause.
The festival kicked off with a concert by the “Vilstaler Brass Band” and the Böllerschützen from Hundsruck on Friday evening. This was followed by an impressive parade with the community associations and the traditional beer tapping, during which Mayor Max König tapped the barrel with the active support of the Löwenbrauerei Passau. The evening was rounded off with cool music from the band “Bayern-Rocker”.
Sport for a good cause
The sporting competitions on Saturday and Sunday were not only a highlight for the spectators, but also an important contribution to supporting families in need. Overall, the organizers collected something proud11,000 euros, which benefit two families with children with disabilities. This opportunity showed that a lot can be achieved with joint actions, as can the platform plan shows that offers sports clubs the opportunity to collect donations through events.
The volleyball final that...36th timetook place was a real crime thriller. The “Gwoid ausm Woid” team prevailed against the “Oischinger family”. Max Oischinger, a young athlete who plays in the 3rd league for Donau Volleys Regensburg, showed impressive performances on the field but was unable to bring the trophy home.
Football joys and fair games
The “Allianz Sterr Cup” in small-field football was no less exciting. 31 teams took part and fought until the end. Athletic Bayao won the trophy in the final, which was decided in a thrilling seven-meter shootout against FC Bayern Fanclub Straßkirchen, with a final score of4:1. The players had previously defeated “Goasta Rica” 2-1 in the semifinals. Fortunately, the tournament was injury-free and the conditions improved significantly for the footballers on Sunday.
The tavern festival also offered a varied supporting program, ranging from a cozy morning pint to a darts tournament and a large raffle. Highlights such as honoring deserving members of the TSV rounded off the celebration. The raffle promised attractive prizes, including:3000 eurosin cash drawn by Mayor Max König.
All in all, the tavern festival was a complete success, which represented a significant enrichment for both the participants and the families supported. “There's something going on” was the motto not only of the festival, but also of all events that strengthen togetherness in Preying.
