Men's day in Eichstätt: Experience the Fieline and Community!
Eichstätt, Deutschland - The men's day as part of the Willibald week, which took place on Friday, July 11th, attracted over 100 men from the diocese of Eichstätt. This committed community, which was made up of members of the men's congregation (MMC), the Catholic employee movement (KAB), Kolping Families and Mesner representatives, began the day with a statio at the Eichstätter Volksfestplatz. The event was organized by the Diocese of Eichstätt and enjoyed great response among the faithful. The participants came from towns Like Herrieden, Nuremberg, Weißenburg and Wemding.
In his explanations,Josef Bittl emphasized the importance of community and faith. Benedikt Graf also spoke openly about the challenges of carrying faith into the world. The men's day, which aimed at experiencing community, deepening the faith and giving new impulses for the path of life, also offered companions the opportunity to participate, such as Anna Kühnel from Nuremberg.
Festive service in the cathedral
The pilgrim group then went on the way to the cathedral, where a festive service took place. Pastor Michael Harrer held the sermon and spoke about the faith and the history of St. Willibald. He encouraged the men to live their faith as pastoral in everyday life. The relics of St. Willibald were solemnly presented, which was the important part of the ceremony. The service was celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Adolf Bitschi and diocesan administrator Alfred Rottler.
The musical framework took over the city band Eichstätt, which created a special atmosphere with its performance. After the service, the participants in the garden of the seminary deepened the encounter at a sociable get -together at a dinner together. Dinner, at the cost price and in a sociable atmosphere, offered many the opportunity to exchange ideas and make new contacts.
The men's movement in the Catholic Church
This event is part of a larger trend that is getting more and more attention in the Catholic Church: the men's movement. As Deutschlandfunk's reporting shows, there are approaches throughout Germany to help men rediscover and live their masculinity. Initiatives such as men's camps in which men are introduced to their own faith and community through various activities are at the pulse of this movement. These camps are aimed not only at believing men, but also to those who are looking for their identity.
These developments and events, such as the men's day in Eichstätt, reflect the desire not only to be connected in faith, but also in the joint experience of masculinity in a rapidly changing world. The diocese of Eichstätt has set a strong sign here today. The hope is that such events continue to inspire and encourage them to actively live their faith and to get involved in the community.
