City bikes in the Donau-Ries: Large bicycle consecration on July 6th in Monheim!

A special event is the cyclist: inside in the Donau-Ries district! The city cycling starts on July 6, 2025, with a very special start - a bicycle consecration in Monheim. At 11:00 a.m., guests will be welcomed in the parking lot in front of the town hall. The deputy district administrator Ursula Kneißl-Eder, bicycle traffic officer Bianca Kratzsch and Mayor Günther Pfefferer will open the event. At 1:00 p.m. the church blessing for cyclists takes place: the pastor Michael Maul inside. The memory of this festive occasion will be an orange "Kolping Band" that is distributed as a beautiful souvenir.

The city cycling runs over a period of three weeks, from July 6th to 26th, 2025, and offers free tours and events for everyone. Steffen Reddel, the 1st chairman of the ADFC Donau-Ries, hopes for a lively participation and invites everyone to cordon out-also spontaneous passengers: inside are welcome. A highlight of the kick -off event is the possibility of bicycle coding, which will be offered on July 6, 2025 in Monheim. This security offensive is supported by the ADFC and costs 15 euros for non-members, while members only pay 10 euros. This requires proof of ownership and an ID document. On further occasions, such as on July 9 in Nördlingen during the weekly market, the coding will continue.

But there are not only on the starting day: Under the motto "By bike over stock and stone", the ADFC offers several guided tours. On July 9th and 13th, tours in Donauwörth are on the program. The end of the city bike marked a joint final tour on July 26th. For everyone who wants to document their kilometers, there is a period of up to 7 days after the campaign to add their data.

The potential of cycling

cycling is becoming increasingly important. A current study commissioned by the ADFC shows that Germany could triple the proportion of cycling by 2035, which entails enormous environmental effects. The savings potential is up to 19 million tons of CO2 in traffic, while traffic emissions in the near area could be reduced by 34 percent.
