Full closure at Finsterwald intersection: diversions from October 6th!
The construction site at the Finsterwald intersection in Dingolfing is entering the home stretch. From October 6, 2025, the intersection area will be fully closed due to asphalting work, work on islands and remaining work. These measures are necessary to complete the construction of the new roundabout, which will be designed as a five-arm intersection. The full closure is expected to last until October 14, 2025, as dingolfing-landau.de reports.
The diversions have already been put in place to direct traffic as best as possible. Road users coming from the city center and wanting to get to St 2074 are directed from the “ARAL intersection” via Brumather Straße (St 2111). In addition, drivers who want to drive from Salitersheim towards St 2074 have to accept a detour via Ennser Straße and Dr.-Josef-Hastreiter-Straße. The diversion for commercial businesses on Brumather Straße also runs via the exit to St 2074. For the remaining traffic towards the ARAL intersection, the diversion takes place via Gablonzer Straße to Ennser Straße.
Special information for residents and pedestrians
Residents on Bahnhofstrasse will have access to their shops until shortly before construction begins. During the total closure, however, they can only be reached via the “ARAL crossing”. The city of Dingolfing also points out that the closure and diversion will be clearly signposted. Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use the area during the asphalting work, but should exercise increased caution and observe the special traffic routes.
The original construction work to redesign the Finsterwald intersection started on May 12, 2025 and is divided into two phases. The first phase, which was expected to extend until August 2025, focused on the construction of the west side of the roundabout. The main axis, Höller Straße/Bahnhofstraße, remained two-lane, but there were still restrictions due to the construction site. The second phase saw the construction of the east side of the roundabout, keeping one lane clear at all times. The city asks all road users to be more careful in the construction site area, as dingolfing.de emphasizes.
The following applies to all road users: keep your eyes open and drive carefully! The traffic changes can be challenging, but the end goal is better traffic flow and increased safety at this important intersection. So let’s tackle it and make the best of it!
