15 years of Greenpeace Deggendorf: Successful promotions for the climate!

Deggendorf, Deutschland - On July 21, 2025, a very special anniversary was celebrated in Deggendorf: The local Greenpeace Group looked back proudly for 15 years of voluntary work. Founded by three committed students, the group has launched a variety of actions over the years to fight for climate protection and against environmental destruction. The birthday was celebrated with a large event at the city square that attracted numerous citizens: inside.

The seven display boards designed on both sides with many photos that documented the past success were not missing. The visitors: Inside, a look back at the various actions that have been carried out since 2010. Among other things, protests against the climate -damaging Gulf of VW and activism against Shell's oil drilling in the Arctic were part of the repertoire. Topics such as genetically manipulated corn, dealing with animal suffering in agriculture or the gas drilling on Ammersee also found space in the extensive commitment of the group.

a review of 15 years full of actions

"We are proud of what we have achieved in these 15 years!" Emphasized one participant in the festival. The demand for a billionaire tax on the rescue of the climate was also proud, a concern that is very popular in the current discussion about climate protection and social justice. The event included not only informative elements, but also hands-on activities: children were able to design homemade buttons, and numerous give-aways and adhesive tattoos were distributed.

The positive response of the passers -by was remarkable. Many stopped, looked at the photos and exchanged information about the groups's experiences and demands. Documentation on Greenpeace was also presented on a monitor, which further increased interest. "Such demos and actions are an indispensable instrument to raise our voice in democracy," emphasized a spokesman for the group.

important topics and future challenges

The group not only took part in Demos in Munich - including events on TTIP, G7 and the IAA - but also at climate strikes in cities such as Regensburg and Passau. These mobilizations are a sign that environmental protection and peace are central concerns that combine many people. In addition, awareness of the urgency of topics such as coastal protection with the Beluga and the Arctic 30 is promoted.

In conclusion, it remains to be said that the past 15 years contained many emotionally moving moments that are firmly anchored in the memories of the members. The emotional design of the photo walls referred to the successes that were achieved despite the small group size. The hope and motivation to actively stand up for environmental issues in the future will be unbroken. Greenpeace Deggendorf thanks for all supporters and looks forward to many further actions.
