BRK Dachau is on the upswing: Students are recruiting new supporting members!

The Bavarian Red Cross (BRK) Dachau is gradually giving full throttle to attract new supporting members. The promotion, which started this week on August 5, 2025, will last a full six weeks and cover the entire Dachau district. The need to attract more members to the region's oldest and largest charity is urgent, as membership has fallen dramatically in recent years. From 10,000 to currently 7,800 – that is a considerable decline.

The initiative, which is being driven by seven committed students – Luise, Sally, Angeli, Carmine, Lorenz, Mattia and Melih – brings a breath of fresh air into the BRK's advertising machine. With new Red Cross clothing and an ID card that legitimizes the BRK district association, they go door to door and inform the population about what their association has to offer. The focus is not only on classic rescue services, but also childcare, home emergency calls, transport services and day care are among the services provided by the BRK Dachau.

Volunteering between the numbers

Last year, the BRK Dachau had to give up 383 supporting members, which was primarily due to deaths. A look at the statistics shows that the average age of the supporting members is higher than that of the general population. There is something to be said for this, because in order to maintain the BRK's valuable work in the future, a stronger financial basis is essential. The organization supports people in need every day and relies on financial donations to fulfill its tasks - be it rescuing people or helping the poor and needy.

To support this process, the BRK Dachau has even set up a crowdfunding platform to secure financial resources for various projects. People are invited to purchase a membership and thus actively contribute to the community. Of course, students are encouraged not to accept monetary or in-kind donations during their canvassing efforts - their mission is to recruit members for the organization.

From the food bank to the Red Cross shops to disaster control and international aid - the right offer is presented here for every situation. The water rescue service and the Youth Red Cross also fall under the wide spectrum of activities carried out by the members.
