There was a lot going on in the Cham district last week! The fire brigade's emergency services were challenged almost every day and had to demonstrate their skills in various operations. Looking back at the week from July 14th to 20th, 2025, it is clear that the fire fighters faced numerous challenges. On Monday, July 14th, the fire department was called to a kitchen fire in Neukirchen b.Hl.Blut at 7:25 a.m., where the apartment was heavily smoked. The day was rounded off with consultation with a traffic accident in Cham and securing an apartment opening in Roding.
Challenges of the week
Tuesday brought a whole series of unpleasant encounters when the fire department was called to a small fire in Schorndorf around 11:23 a.m. There were also several tree clearing operations in Rötz, Walting and measures to secure the road on the flooded B85. The motorcycle accident near Wetterfeld was particularly noticeable, where half of the road had to be closed.
On Wednesday, July 16, the fire department was called to a major fire in an outbuilding in Zell at 6:34 a.m. The breathing apparatus wearers had to be used as the residents fortunately remained uninjured. Other missions included a BMA alarm in Roding and support for the rescue service in Waldmünchen.
Special incidents
The operations were not only characterized by fires - nature also took its toll. A storm and heavy rain caused chaos on the roads in the district on Tuesday. Cham, Wetterfeld and Pemfling were particularly affected, where several traffic accidents occurred and the fire department responded responsibly to the scene. On Sunday, July 20th, a hut in Wolfersdorf was set on fire, but here too the fire brigade was quickly on the scene and was able to prevent anything worse from happening. A motorcycle accident in Michelsneukirchen rounded off the week of operations.
For the fire department, this review not only means many missions, but also successful awareness of the dangers that can lurk in every corner.
