Bamberg in excitement: exhibitionist caught after numerous acts!
A wave of outrage and concern is currently sweeping through Bamberg after an unknown man committed exhibitionist acts in front of children in several cases. There had been evidence of such behavior since 2023, but incidents appeared to have decreased in 2024. But like that Wiesentbote reported, events have increased again in 2025 and are putting the local police on alert.
The Bamberg criminal police have set up a special investigative commission called “Oratio”, which is looking into over ten cases in detail. A crucial step was taken by analyzing video recordings, which ultimately led to the identification of a 37-year-old German. On November 11, 2025, the suspect was arrested and was cooperative during police interrogation in Franconia reports.
The investigation and the arrest warrant
The Bamberg public prosecutor's office applied for an arrest warrant and search warrants against the suspect. Despite confessing to his crimes, the arrest warrant was suspended under strict conditions, so that the arrested man is currently not in custody. This decision causes additional unrest and questions among the population. Meanwhile, the criminal police's investigations are continuing and are intended to ensure that no further incidents take place.
The past cases show an alarming pattern: the perpetrator repeatedly exposed himself in front of children before he was able to escape undetected. The police did everything they could to shed light on the matter, and the quick investigation was crucial to preventing possible further crimes.
A problem for society as a whole
The incidents in Bamberg should not be viewed in isolation. According to information from the BKA A worrying trend can be observed: In 2024, the registered cases of sexual abuse of children and young people remained almost constant. There have been 16,354 cases in children, indicating ongoing risk. The high proportion of underage suspects in the area of youth pornography reinforces this worrying picture.
In this context, society is faced with the challenge of taking clearer security precautions and installing effective prevention projects. It remains to be hoped that the investigations in Bamberg not only clear up the current case, but also have far-reaching consequences for the protection of children.
