Bamberg revitalizes the city center: poster campaign for a better quality of life!

A lot is happening in Bamberg! On October 27, 2025, the city opened a very special chapter in its inner city initiative projects. The “BA:Downtown with a face” campaign was launched to promote the uniqueness of Bamberg’s city center and to strengthen retail. The owner of the Kaufrausch store, Birgid Bischoff, and her employee hung the first poster, which was delivered by Simone Ludwig-Konggann and Diana Mehlhorn from the economic development agency.

Economic advisor Dr. Stefan Goller emphasized the importance of Bamberg's city center, while the head of economic development, Ruth Vollmar, emphasized the importance of intensified dialogue between businesses and the administration. “Mitte.Bamberg.2025” is not just a simple advertising campaign; it is the conclusion of a comprehensive funding project that ends at the end of November.

36 traders are taking part

The campaign includes a poster and postcard campaign in which 36 businesses from the catering, retail, service, hotel and market sectors take part. Individual postcards with personal quotes from those involved will be displayed in stores. Selina Erhard from Little Seahorse sums it up: "Bamberg. A city where the shops are run with love!" Kristina Berßelis, who runs the colorful Chameleon, adds: “Shopping locally makes you happy.” Lars Baldinger from Le Baldinger emphasizes: “Together we make Bamberg come alive.”

The economic development agency is distributing the posters to businesses in order to make the measure even more visible and to create an incentive to visit Bamberg city center. This commitment is part of a larger plan to improve the quality of stay in the city center for both visitors and residents.

A comprehensive concept for inner city redevelopment

“Mitte.Bamberg.2025” is not just a short-term project, but is based on a well-thought-out city center concept that was developed under the supervision of an external planning office. The aim is to show all points of contact visitors have with the city center and to develop targeted measures to revitalize selected vacant properties. As part of the project, short-term measures were also provided by the inner city fund, such as an artistically designed Bamberg lettering as a photo point and a series of mobile water features and seating on Maxplatz, which ensure relaxation and relaxation.

Federal funding totaling 474,600 euros was approved for the project, and the municipal contribution of up to 52,900 euros shows how serious the city is about revitalizing its city center. There will be regular publicity campaigns throughout the entire project to inform citizens and visitors about developments and to actively involve as many people as possible.

In conclusion, it remains to be said: Bamberg is taking on the challenges of urban life and, with “Mitte.Bamberg.2025”, is showing how a city center can no longer just be a place for shopping, but a lively space for exchange and encounters. The meadow messenger and the inner city program report on the exciting progress in the city.
