Fashion night in Augsburg: tim celebrates 15 years of creative textile history!

The State Textile and Industrial Museum Augsburg (tim) celebrated its 15th anniversary on November 15, 2025. This anniversary was celebrated with an exciting fashion night, which took place in collaboration with the German Master School for Fashion Munich. The guests were able to marvel at the latest designs by young designers, which were presented in a fascinating setting. Trendyone reports that the event was not only a celebration of fashion, but also provided space for a look back at the last 15 years of the museum.

In the afternoon, a non-public anniversary event took place in which the development of tim and the support and friends group tim e.V. was examined in more detail. Museum director Philipp Murr emphasized the future-oriented role of museums in our society. Mäggi Heinrich recalled that the tim emerged from strong civic engagement and celebrated the importance of textile history for Augsburg. Eva Leipprand, the city's former mayor, described the tim as a lively center and an indispensable part of Augsburg.

A living legacy

The story that Siegfried Paintner told about the long preparation period from the concept in 1996 to the opening in 2010 was particularly exciting. The support of the city and the district was of great importance. Karl-Heinz Schneider highlighted Augsburg's historical reputation as the “Manchester of the textile industry” and thereby underlined its proximity to its industrial heritage. Timbayern.de adds that this fashion night creates the perfect bridge between the museum's past, present and creative future.

In the wake of the anniversary, tim continues to be active and offers exciting digital formats. This includes a newsletter with information about exhibitions and workshops as well as an online shop where selected textile products from the museum weaving mill are available. Innovative digital projects such as the “STOFF WITHOUT BORDERS” experience world and the virtual exhibition on “Fabric printing in Augsburg” also invite you to learn more about the history of textiles.

Sustainable textile industry in Augsburg

Another important project will also be presented near the tim: the “Circular Textiles” project at the Augsburg University of Technology. This initiative aims to fully map the recycling and value chain of textiles. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research is funding the project with up to five million euros to advance the transformation to a sustainable textile circular economy. The Augsburg Journal highlights how important these developments could be for the region.

The Technical University and the Recycling Atelier Augsburg work closely with renowned partners from industry and research. Prof. Dr. Frank Danzinger from the THA emphasizes the expansion of skills for a sustainable textile industry and the importance of technological and social innovations in this area.

Thanks to such initiatives, Augsburg could develop into a model region for textile sustainability. The combination of tradition and progress, zealous commitment and innovation gives hope that the textile industry in the region will not only survive, but also thrive.
