Christmas package convoy: Children help children in the Amberg-Sulzbach district!

On Sunday, November 9th, 2025, it's time again: Christmas in the heart! The Christmas parcel convoy is organized by the Round Table Amberg-Sulzbach and calls on all citizens to take part in this important campaign. The motto of the campaign is “Children helping children” and the aim is to collect gifts for needy children in Eastern Europe.

Dominik Lenz, an active member of the Round Table, made it clear how important this initiative is: “For many children in Eastern Europe it is the only Christmas present.” This year there are five members of the service club who will take the packages to the border of Moldova and the town of Lasi, Romania. “Every package makes a difference,” says Martin Bernklau, President of the Service Club.

Impressions and successes of the past years

The results of the last few years speak for themselves: Last year a total of 15,000 packages were collected, of which around 1,500 came from Amberg and the Amberg-Sulzbach district. On a larger scale, as *Kinderzukunft* reports, many children in southern and eastern Europe are dependent on these gift deliveries. For them in particular, the packages symbolize warmth, belonging and childhood; it is often the only gift in their lives.

For this year's campaign, everyone addressed is called upon to submit their packages to various drop-off points in Amberg by Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the latest. The collection points include the Kraus driving school and the Bayern Versicherungskammer on Fleurystrasse. The packages should be packed in shoe boxes or similar and tightly sealed with a sticker stating the gender and age of the child receiving the gift.

How you can help

The intended contents for the packages are varied. New or well-preserved toys, school and craft materials as well as hygiene products and sweets are used. “Together we can put a smile on the faces of many children,” emphasizes Lenz, pointing out the opportunity to help with the collection. Further information can be found on the event website: Christmas parcel convoy.

According to current estimates, numerous schools, daycare centers and other institutions are taking part in the campaign again this year, which shows how strong the cohesion is in the region. Many people know that such gestures come from the heart and can make a huge difference in the lives of these children. Let's join in and show that the light of charity shines particularly brightly in the dark season!
