Dr. Monika Labes: New nature conservation warden for Aichach-Friedberg!
There is fresh news from the field of nature conservation in the picturesque Aichach-Friedberg region! District Administrator Dr. Klaus Metzger has Dr. Monika Labes appointed as the district's new nature conservation warden. The ceremonial act took place in the presence of long-time nature conservation wardens, a beautiful gesture from the community that Dr. Labes would like to wish her every success in her future endeavors. She succeeds Manfred Scholz, who resigned from his position at the end of 2024.
Dr. In the future, Labes will take over the nature conservation support for the communities of Kissing and Ried as well as the market town of Mering. In her new position, she will spend around 20 hours per month advocating for nature conservation issues. The tasks of nature conservation officers are diverse and range from preventative education about nature conservation and landscape management to monitoring compliance with legal regulations.
Diverse tasks in nature conservation
What exactly does a conservation warden do? Dr. Among other things, Labes will be responsible for communicating with citizens to promote a better understanding of conservation issues and to provide protection for rarer animal and plant species and their habitats. In addition, her tasks will include providing information about entry bans and requirements for dogs to be kept on a leash, as well as conducting guided tours and lectures, for example for schools and kindergartens.
The district offices in Bavaria are looking for more committed people who would like to get involved in the nature conservation watchdog. If you are interested, you can contact Franz Rieber directly on 08251/92-167 or by email franz.rieber@lra-aic-fdb.de and follow in the footsteps of Dr. Kick Labes.
Volunteering in nature conservation is honored
Voluntary engagement in nature conservation is very popular, as the current honor of 54 people in Upper Franconia shows. Bavarian Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber presented awards for years of commitment at Thurnau Castle. Gold, silver and bronze awards were given for at least 25, 20 and 10 years of service in the nature conservation service, respectively, which underlines the immense importance of the nature conservation watchdog.
In a special ceremony on September 13, 2024, the nature conservation wardens from the Lichtenfels district were honored for their tireless efforts. Helmut Fischer, the deputy district administrator, emphasized how important volunteer work is for nature conservation. The focus is not only on protecting the environment, but also on raising public awareness of how to treat nature with respect.
So it is gratifying to see that with every new appointment like that of Dr. Labes, awareness of nature conservation is further promoted. Let us all work together to protect and preserve our region's natural resources!
