Hornschuchstrasse in Wunsiedel is now closed, and there are reasons for that. The section between the “Am Ratskalkofen” confluence and the town exit will be extensively renovated. The measures include not only the renewal of the asphalt surface, but also improvements to the sidewalks and work on underground pipes. The renovation work, which will begin on August 11th and is expected to last until September 12th, 2025, is a major project. As announced by the Website of the Wunsiedel district, the road will be renewed in the entire area up to the exit from the town. The asphalt surface layer gets a new four centimeter thick layer, while the deep damaged areas are also removed. This work is necessary to increase traffic safety and improve driving comfort.
Details of the construction project
The company carrying out the renovation work is Strabag from Neudrossenfeld. The city of Wunsiedel is also taking action by replacing the sidewalks in the affected area. SWW Wunsiedel GmbH replaces important supply equipment such as valves, hydrants and manhole covers. Hornschuchstrasse will be completely closed during the entire construction period, so road users are asked to observe the signposted diversions and to show increased vigilance in the construction site area.
Traffic will be rerouted via the B 303 in the direction of Marktredwitz and Lorenzreuth, with appropriate signage on site. This ensures that residents of the “Wiesenmühle” street also have access via Schneckenhammer. “Wintersreuther Straße” also remains accessible from the motorway and “Egerstraße”. The recycling center remains accessible from the east, with the exception of two days in the 37th calendar week that have not yet been determined.
Costs and outlook
The total costs for this project amount to around 250,000 euros, and the building owner is the responsibility of the Wunsiedel i.Fichtelgebirge district. The citizens consider the measure to be necessary in order to continuously improve the quality of life in the city of Wunsiedel.
Residents in the affected areas are also invited to speak to the construction crew on site in order to clarify any concerns or questions on site. This means that the dialogue between citizens and the companies carrying out the work always remains open.
