Sensational seniors' afternoon in Weiden: honorary prizes and music fun!
The guests experienced a colorful hustle and bustle at this year's seniors' afternoon in the Max Reger Hall, which took place on October 28, 2025. Over 600 seniors came together to enjoy an entertaining afternoon under the committed leadership of Peter Klein, chairman of the seniors' advisory board. The varied program created a good atmosphere, supported by the music of the 77 Combo, which provided the best entertainment in the hall.
It was particularly celebratory at the presentation of the Senior Honorary Award, which Mayor Jens Meyer presented to the two outstanding personalities Wilhelm Striegl and Iris Meixner. This award recognized the pair's long-standing commitment to working with seniors. A very special guest was “Lucky”, the first Bavarian joke master and Gstanzl singer, who made the audience laugh with his humorous interludes.
A diverse offering for everyone
The seniors' advisory board and the seniors' specialist office worked hard to present a successful event. In addition to the musical program, there was delicious coffee and a selection of different types of cake to round off the afternoon. The needs and expectations of seniors are diverse; many enjoy socializing, while others seek emotional support or practical information. In the future, too, we want to keep the wishes of visitors in mind in order to design a suitable program, as LebenPlus has noted.
The event made it clear how important such an offer is for living in retirement. According to Golden Seniors, leisure activities not only promote social contacts, but also new skills and physical activity. Memory training is one way to promote mental fitness, while game nights and senior meetings encourage interaction.
An outlook on the upcoming events
The senior advisory board team is already looking ahead to the next events. Planning for the coming year is in full swing, so that cultural and social life will continue to be very important for older citizens in the future. Ideas such as cooking evenings, craft projects or even technical workshops are already being discussed in order to offer a varied and appealing program. Community engagement and active cooperation not only strengthen the social fabric, but also ensure a better quality of life and satisfaction in old age.
Overall, it became clear during the seniors' afternoon in the Max Reger Hall that strong cooperation and creative offers for seniors are not only important, but also indispensable. Perhaps the ideas from the LebenPlus magazine will also inspire other communities to create similar events to enrich the social lives of older people. Because one thing is clear: an active and social life is of great importance for all age groups!
