Citizens' Festival in Weiden: Celebrate friendships and experience diversity!

Weiden in der Oberpfalz, Deutschland - The citizens' festival in Weiden officially started on June 28, 2025! Mayor Jens Meyer received the representatives of the partner cities in the regional library on Friday evening and welcomed them with the words: "Benvenuto! Welcome! Bienvenue! Welcome! Here in Weiden". The festive reception was the prelude to a varied weekend that takes place in the old town of Weiden.

The event, which is celebrated for the 53rd time this year, traditionally takes place in June last weekend. Therefore, the Weiden population met to celebrate long -term friendships with the partner cities that have grown over several decades. Meyer paid particular attention to the 70th anniversary with Issy-les-moulineaux and the 60th anniversary with Macerata, a sign of ongoing international connection. Unfortunately, Mayor Lothar could not participate higher due to illness, but Meyer brought him the best regards.

On the evening of June 28, Mayer opens the festival at 6:00 p.m. Until 00:00 a.m., visitors can enjoy the diverse offers of the approximately 60 food and beverage providers ranging from beer to fish specialties. In addition, six stages will provide musical entertainment, with performances from rock to soul. On Saturday evening the tribute band "Peter" and the group Rockconnection are on the program, while local music groups will be entertained on Sunday.

The city of Weiden takes security very seriously during the citizens' festival. The fixed area will be closed from Saturday, 5:00 p.m. to Monday, 7:00 a.m. Residents are therefore encouraged to park their vehicles in good time. Security forces and sample -like pocket controls are carried out throughout the festival, and it is recommended to do without backpacks and large pieces of luggage. On Monday, June 30th, the clean -up work can lead to slight traffic disruptions.

The partnerships were organized by Claudia Völlink and the Weiden Cultural Office under the direction of Sabine Guhl, and the teachers of the Kepler and Elly-Heuss high schools also supported the student exchange with IsSy-les-moulineaux.
