Convised offenders arrested after escape - police strike!
In a sensational arrest, a 41-year-old convicted criminal was caught last Friday in Aschau am Inn (Mühldorf am Inn district). This is reported by the FAZ . In November 2023, the man was sentenced to a prison sentence of two years and eleven months by the Traunstein District Court for extortionate people's robbery and assault on enforcement officers. It is striking that he did not properly compete with the prison sentence, but had left abroad. The judgment only became final in May 2024.
The police finally found the man and transferred him to a correctional facility (JVA). Such incidents raise the question of how the execution of a punishment in the German judicial system is going. Basically there are two types of execution: open and closed. The difference? There are fewer regulations in open execution. Inmates can work during the day and may be allowed to go home on weekends, while in the closed enforcement there is strict surveillance, which results in sanctions in the event of regulatory violations. This explains the Statistical report of the Federal Office offers further details on these topics.
