1860 Munich and Schweinfurt: With brilliant victories into the round of 16!
On August 12, 2025, the time had come again: the Bavarian State Cup brought captivating duels onto the field. TSV 1860 Munich and 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 prevailed with impressive performances and moved on to the next round. While the “Lions” shone with an impressive 8-0 demonstration against Geiselbullach, the “Schnüdel” managed a narrow 1-0 win against Bamberg.
What happened on the pitch wasn't just football, but a real celebration for the fans. From the start, 1860 Munich left no doubt that they wanted to take control of the game. Coach Patrick Glöckner decided to rest the starting eleven except for goalkeeper Dähne, which turned out to be absolutely right. The TSV line-up consisted of Philipp, Steinkötter, Christiansen, Kozuki, Reinthaler, Jakob, Maier, Wolfram, Hobsch and Schifferl, who showed that they can maintain their class even in rotation.
Insane game of the “Lions”
The first half was an exhibition for Munich. Christiansen opened the scoring in the 5th minute, and was soon followed by captain Hobsch, who scored successfully in the 12th minute after a precise cross from Wolfram. But that's not enough! Hobsch stepped up and scored the third goal in the 30th minute, followed by two more goals in the 49th and 69th minutes. Schifferl provided the preliminary highlight in the 51st minute, before Wolfram scored the final point in stoppage time and set the final score at 8-0.
The next mandatory task for 1860 Munich is already waiting: in the 3rd league the team will face Alemannia Aachen. With such form it will certainly be an interesting match.
Schweinfurt is also moving on
While Munich celebrated a goal festival, Schweinfurt's game was much more exciting. Coach Victor Kleinhenz sent a slightly different line-up onto the pitch, including Piwernetz, Böhnlein, Fery, Latteier, Obiogumu and Shuranov. The latter, who had recently joined on a free transfer from Maccabi Haifa, caused a stir in the 24th minute and scored his debut goal. Despite further efforts and pressure from Bamberg, who pushed for an equalizer, the result remained stable until the end and Schweinfurt won 1-0.
The Schnüdel can now prepare for an important duel in the DFB Cup against Fortuna Düsseldorf. The anticipation for the next game is palpable and the fans are hoping for further success.
