An exciting series of lectures entitled “Strong through Education” will start in the Schwandorf district on October 14, 2025. This initiative aims to provide parents, educators, teachers and child and youth work professionals with further training and to give them tips on how to strengthen children's resilient development. The series consists of five events that are offered free of charge and for which registration through the adult education center in the Schwandorf district is required. This series of lectures is supported by the local Alliance for Families in the Schwandorf district.

A look at the other topics

The series of lectures continues with the second topic “We make our children strong for the world”, presented by Carola Hanusch, a qualified social worker. Here, on November 26, 2025 in the Wackersdorf multi-generational house, we will discuss how children can act independently in a complex world and develop their strengths.

The lecture “Help, my child has learning difficulties!” will be essential for the participants. on January 26, 2026, held by Martina Hartl and Lisa Hofmann. The focus is on effective strategies to support children with special needs and takes place in the Nittenau elementary and middle school.

Another highlight of the series is the lecture by Robert Keppler on February 24, 2026 in the St. Andreas Schwandorf kindergarten on “Eight things that make education strong”. Important elements of upbringing are discussed here that help parents to support their children in the best possible way.

The series concludes with the lecture “Puberty – Between letting go and giving support” by Anita Gradl, a child and adolescent psychotherapist. On March 2, 2026, strategies to support young people in challenging phases of life will be discussed in the Maxhütte-Haidhof multi-generational house.

Why resilience is so important

A central theme in education is resilience, i.e. the psychological resistance in children. According to Kindergartenpaedagogik.de, resilience is a dynamic process that develops through experiences and relationships. Children are advised to discover their own abilities and actively address problems. Important factors that build resilience include social skills, self-efficacy and problem-solving skills.

An awareness-raising exchange between parents, educators and specialists can help to specifically promote resilience factors. Children need support and a positive relationship with those around them in order to develop their social and emotional skills.
