15-year-old from Schwandorf missing for a week – clues wanted!

In Schwandorf, the search for 15-year-old Ashley Ettinger is becoming increasingly intensive. She has been missing since Monday, October 20th after leaving a sheltered facility around 7 p.m. She hadn't returned until late that night, which alerted carers and led to the police being informed. According to mittelbayerische.de, officials suspect that Ashley is in Weiden or the Schwandorf district.

The investigation has so far revealed that Ashley probably left the facility of her own free will and there is no evidence that she was the victim of a crime. “There is currently no indication that she is in danger,” said a police spokesman. Ashley is 1.55 meters tall, has long black hair and a noticeable herpes infection on her mouth.

Witness help is sought

The police have asked the public for help. Information about the whereabouts of the young people is urgently received on the telephone number 09431/43010 or on the police emergency number 110. Missing person cases are exceptionally stressful and traumatic for relatives, as fedpol emphasizes. Local police departments are crucial in such situations to respond quickly and efficiently.

In Germany, thousands of people are reported missing every year. On January 1, 2025, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) registered around 9,420 missing person cases. The clearance rate is quite encouraging: around 50% of missing person cases are resolved within the first week, a number that gives hope for the relatives. Particularly worrying is the number of missing young people, which was around 80,800 in 2024, with the majority of cases being resolved quickly, reports the [BKA](https://www.bka.de/DE/ UnserAufgabe/Ermittlungsunterstuetzung/BearbeitungVermisstenfaelle/arbeitungVermisstenfaelle.html).

The police in Schwandorf and the relevant authorities are doing everything they can to find Ashley and ensure her return. As the search continues, the hope remains that Ashley returns safely soon.
