Moritz Roth inspires at the international biathlon summer camp in Norway

Moritz Roth from SG Niederwangen returned from Lillehammer, Norway, with fresh impressions and new knowledge. The talented biathlete was invited by the International Biathlon Federation (IBU) to a summer camp that took place earlier this month and culminated from June 29 to July 5, 2025. Together with his coach Michael Roth and national team colleague Johannes Rank from Oberhof, Moritz experienced a week full of educational moments and intensive training.

The camp not only offered first-class training conditions at the Lillehammer Olympic Legacy Sports Center, but also brought together athletes and coaches from 18 different nations. A total of 52 athletes, including both biathlon and para-biathlon athletes, took part. How Biathlon World reports, one of the main goals of the camp was not only to improve physical skills, but also to promote exchange and learning between young talents and experienced coaches.

Insights and new skills

In Lillehammer, Moritz Roth was able to receive valuable tips from international experts in the areas of shooting and running. “It was an instructive and interesting week,” said the athlete, summing up his experiences. He particularly emphasized the exchange with other athletes and coaches as a great benefit. “The experience I have gained is of great importance for my sporting development,” continued Roth.

The camp was not only a platform for individual training, but also offered innovative joint exercises in which Olympic stars and para-biathletes worked together equally. A special highlight was a mixed relay event that underlined the community and team spirit of the athletes. “The collaboration between Paralympic and Olympic athletes is a step in the right direction,” praised IBU para-biathlon coach Simon Allansson.

Proud of the offspring

The SG Niederwangen was proud to invite their talent to the renowned camp. This not only underlines the club's successful youth work, but also the region's overall development in the field of biathlon. Moritz and his colleagues return home with improved skills, new ideas and a healthy dose of motivation to optimally prepare for the coming season.

The IBU remains committed in this regard and through such camps shows how important the support of young biathletes and para-biathletes is for the development of the sport. There is a lot to look forward to - both from Moritz Roth and from the next generation of biathletes who can develop further thanks to such initiatives. Valencia was yesterday – now everyone is talking about Lillehammer!
