Michael Prüert: Legendary swimmer celebrates records in Roth and World Cup!

Roth, Deutschland - In the Franconia, the record fever remains unbroken. New best performances are achieved year after year, but one outshines the others: Michael Prüert. The former service swimmer, who celebrated his 61st birthday two months ago, has held the fastest swimming time of men over 3.8 kilometers since he set his record on the Challenge Roth on July 13, 1997. His time of 43:35 minutes is still inviolable. Who could tell better how it was when he was? Prüert describes the race as quick, the conditions as excellent - a recipe for records!

in the long distance, Prüfert has consolidated its place in history, while others were kept beating. It is remarkable that the record of the 1998 winner Luc van Lierde, who completed the entire long distance in 7:50:27 hours, has now been overtaken, but Lothar Leder was the first athlete to crack the eight-hour brand. Prüert, on the other hand, remains the owner of the oldest red record in the long distance-a performance that is of particular importance for him and which he can rightly be proud. Tri-Mag reports that new records are repeatedly set at the annual events in Roth, but the swimming record from Prüfert has existed.

a hero in South Korea

Prüfert can also look back on other successes. So he won a new title at the Masters World Championships in South Korea. In the picturesque city of Yeosu, he started over 3,000 meters and left the competition behind. With a time of 37: 30 minutes, he secured the world championship title in the age group 55. Only 0.4 seconds separated him from the Australian John de Mestre, who also wanted to take the podium with sweaty competition. Bronze went to a swimmer from Puerto Rico, who crossed the finish line with six seconds. This reports swim with enthusiasm.

and speaking of medals: Germany was able to look forward to a fantastic start in South Korea. On the first day of the competitions, five medals went to the German athletes. In addition to Prüfert, Tanja Zewko-Engels, Rainer Fritsche and Peter Kalmar also shone, all of whom were performing excellent performances in their age groups. A small look at the medal list shows:

Platz name age group Zeit
gold Michael Prüert 55 37: 30.1 minutes
silver Tanja Zewko-Engels 55 47: 41.1 minutes
silver rainer fritsche 65 43: 00.2 minutes
silver Peter Kalmar 85 1: 21: 34.5 hours
bronze ilona radermacher 55 49: 11.6 minutes

the record maintenance

What should not be forgotten are the rules for record maintenance, which are not a small challenge for Prüfert. After all, all records must be formally requested from the German Swimming Association (DSV) and other organizations. It is important to fill out different forms and observe certain formalities. If you want to become the official records, you have to know exactly how something like that works. This explains DSV, because incompletion means that applications are returned unprocessed. Prüert and his fellow campaigners are therefore not only required at the competition, but also when it comes to recognizing their top performance.

This is how the sporting ambition remains high and the challenges are varied. But one thing is certain: Michael Prüert is more than just a competitive swimmer. It is a lively example of what can be achieved through commitment and passion. Whether in Roth or in South Korea, the name Prüfert is always associated with records and outstanding achievements, and the whole Franconia can be proud of it.
